When I started my program I had recently been diagnosed with MS. I was having a lot of trouble walking, my legs were very weak, and I didn't trust myself to walk stairs without holding the banister. My balance had deteriorated to where I was unable to stand on one foot or "tandem walk," or right myself if I started to lose my balance.
At the end of my program I can balance on either leg, tandem walk, get up from a crouch, walk up and down stairs without holding on. My ankles are stronger, my legs are stronger and can go about my workday with confidence. In my apartment, I can fend for myself, use the step stool, and in general feel confident of my safety. With MS, physical fatigue and mental and emotional fatigue go hand in hand. Now that I have my strength back, coping with work and daily living have become easier as well.
Thank you all!!
